On August 30, 2026, the Green Valley Pastor Search Team brought before the church, Jeff Keith, as the unanimous recommendation for nomination for Senior (Lead) Pastor. After Jeff preached the morning service, the church moved into an official time of Church Conference to vote by ballot. With an overwhelming vote of 99% affirming the nomination of Pastor Jeff, it was a beautiful celebration of God’s faithfulness and goodness in bringing the church to such a unified decision.

Jeff accepted the position and will begin the process of relocating his family from Michigan to Hoover. Continue to pray for Jeff as he shepherds his church in Michigan in these days of transition and as he assumes responsibilities in leading Green Valley Church in advancing the Kingdom in Hoover and beyond.

After months of prayer, discussions, and investigation from the 120 plus resumes Green Valley has received, the Pastor Search Team has a recommendation for the next Senior Pastor. He will be preaching in the morning service, Sunday, August 30. At the conclusion of the service, a vote will be received by the church regarding the recommendation.
An informal meet-and-greet time will take place on Saturday, August 29, from 10am – 12noon in the Fellowship Hall at Green Valley in which the church will have the opportunity to meet him. Additionally, many teams and leaders will be meeting with him through this week for more in depth and personal conversations. More specific details will be shared in the email going out on Wednesday, August 26th.
Prayers for the church to discern God’s voice in this recommendation are greatly appreciated. Join us at Green Valley on August 30th with an expectation of God moving among us for His glory.

We have moved to the part of our process where we are pausing on receiving any more resumes. We received 121 resumes and have been processing through each of them with prayer and discernment. The Pastor Search Team
On June 1, the advertisement for the Lead Pastor position for Green Valley went public on various platforms. The position was posted on the GV website, Facebook, Alabama Baptist website, SBC website, and by word of mouth through relational networks.
As of today, over 90 resumes have been received. On the heels of the 33 hour Prayer Chain, the Pastor Search Team now begins the task of studying the resumes, exploring each one in greater depth, and seeking to determine a smaller pool of potential candidates for deeper exploration.

In April 2026, Green Valley Church began the search process for the next Lead Pastor. Jeff James, the former Lead Pastor for Green Valley for 15 years, resigned in March, sensing the Lord was calling him away from Green Valley and into a new season of faith and ministry.
The Bylaws for Green Valley Church provided direction in the creation of the Pastor Search Team. The first order of business once the team was formed was prayer. The commitment to seeing prayer as the foundation and priority through the process led to the creation of an additional team, the Pastor Search Prayer Team. The Search Team leads the efforts for determining the process for looking for the next Lead Pastor. The Prayer Team leads the efforts for determining how to engage the church in prayer for the process.
After weeks of prayers, discussions, research, and meetings, both the Search Process and the Prayer Strategy went public on June 1, 2026. Information about the search process and for prayer events will be communicated regularly in weekend worship services and through email. The scriptural foundation for our team is Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” We expectantly pray and wait on the Lord as He moves in the search process.
