The Saturdays of Life

Unexpected: Something that didn’t go as planned.

Saturday of the Easter story is an example of where you find yourself when things don’t go as you had hoped. Hope is never more needed than on the Saturdays of life.

What Will You Do With Your Saturdays?

• Look At Life Through God’s Word

Matthew 16: 21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Luke 24: 6 He is not here; He has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in galilee: 7 ‘the son of man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”8 then they remembered his words.

11 but they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Often when we find ourselves in one of the “Saturdays” of life, we forget what God has told us.

• Remain Faithful

Luke 23: 55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

• Focus On Your Purpose

John 20: 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Nothing had changed with God’s purpose for them from Saturday to Sunday.
