Compassion Partnership

November 2018

In November of 2018, Green Valley entered a partnership with Compassion International to plant a new church and children’s center in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

Our Compassion sponsored church plant is located in Collette, Haiti. This small community is located about 20 kilometers from Port-de-Paix, the largest city in the northwestern region of Haiti. People in the community have no schools or hospitals and a lack of basic infrastructure. The unemployment rate is 89% and the average household income is $58 per month for those who can find work herding animals, working on plantations, or as day laborers.

Inaugural Celebration

January 2019

On January 26, 2019 the church plant had its inaugural celebration. Our support provided funds to build a school, child development center, cafeteria and restrooms that made an immediate impact on the community and will continue to yield life-changing results for many years to come.

Compassion Sponsorships

February 2019

On Sunday, February 24, 2019 during worship, Green Valley sponsored over 140 children in Haiti through Compassion International, helping to release them from poverty in the name of Jesus.

In the first 60 days the church was open, 38 people made first-time professions of faith in Christ. Over 70 adults and 200 children were then attending the church regularly.

Where the church is located was called “nan mawon” because of the presence of bramble branches and thorns. In that community people used to practice voodoo, and it was known as a place where criminals would come to hide out. The reputation of the area has completely changed!

Green Visits Haiti

August 2019

On August 14, 2019, a team from Green Valley visited the church in Haiti for the first time. They were met at the gates with a band, hundreds of children, parents and leaders from the community. It was a party! The pastor reported that 137 kids had accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
